Az első olyan gála volt az idei az AVN-díjkiosztók történetében, amelyik új helyszínen volt megrendezve, de ezen egy régi stílusban készült film söpörte be a főbb díjakat. A Corruption egy intenzív és mélyreható dráma, amelyben úgyanúgy található cselekmény és karakterábrázolás, mint szex. A három éve alapított Sex Z stúdió hétszer jöhetett díjat átvenni a színpadra a Mandalay Bay Events Centerben. “Nem készült ilyen anyag a hetvenes évek óta”, nyilatkozta Eli Cross író-rendező, amint ünneplő kollegáival együtt átvette a Best Video Feature-nek járó díjat. Az este másik nagy nyertese Jules Jordan volt, aki idéntől független céget alapított Jules Jordan Video néven. Ő szintén hét díjat vihetett haza, köztük a Legjobb Új Cégnek járót is.
A díjátadó műsort a Wicked sztárja Jessica Drake és a komikus Jim Norton vezette. Utóbbinak ez a második alkalom volt már ebben a szerepben, és ismét sikerült jó hangulatú műsormenetet produkálnia. Bizonyosan ő a leginkább pornószakértő színész-komédiás. A Mandalay Bay Center egy óriási helység amfiteátrummal, sport arénával, a díjátadón 7000 vendég számára biztosított helyet. Köztük nagyon sokan kívülállók voltak, akik számára először volt nyilvános a szakma ünnepe.Ez az év a a hírességeké volt, nemcsak a közönség soraiban, ahol Tito Ortiz ült kiemelt helyen az újra feltörő Jenna Jameson-al, hanem a színpadon is. Műsorvezetőként feltűnt a Kiss egykori frontembere Gene Simmons, a szívtipró Dave Navarro, a bűvész Criss Angel és a komédiás Carrot Top is. A show része volt John Stagliano The Fasionistas című musical-ének egyik száma is, amelyet már két és fél éve folyamatosan színpadon van Las Vegas-ban. Paul Fishbein az AVN elnöke szerint a a legszebb valaha látott előadás volt az AVN-díjátadók történetében az öt pazar kosztümben és levegőben felfüggesztett táncos előadásában. Ezt a műsorszámot nem lehetett volna ilyen színvonalon bemutatni az előző helyszíneken. Eli Cross kapta a Corrption-ért a legjobb rendező díját, akinek nem volt beszéde sem előkészítve, mivel biztos volt benne 100%-ig, hogy nem nyerni jön. Michael Ninn Sacred Sin alkotása öt díjat vihetett haza, közte a legjobb zenéért járót is, amit Eddie van Halen jegyzett. John Stagliano Fashonistas Safado: The Challenge című műve három díjat eredméynezett. Jenna Haze vette át a Jules Jordan-nek ítélt Best Oral Sex Scene díját egy ötpasis blow-bang jelenetért a Jenna Haze Darkside-ban nyújtott alkotásáért. Ezekkel a szavakkal köszönte meg: “Azt kell mondjam, szeretek szopni. Ez az a dolog, amit mindig is a legjobban szerettem csinálni. És köszönöm a barátomnak, a csodálatos Jules Jordan-nek is.” Habár ő nem lehetett jelen, nyert összesen öt díjat, tbbek közt a Best Interracial Release-t a Racial Tension-el. A Wicked Manhunter című alkotása nyerta Best Film kategóriában, amit az egyébként legjobb rendezőként is díjazott Brad Armstrong így kommentált: “Ez minden díj közül, amit legjobban akartam mindig is.” Az európaiak két alkotás révén is taroltak a fő kategóriákban. Egyrészt a Private mozija, a Kovi által rendezett Porn Wars Episod 1. révén, másrészt Pierre Woodman, mint a legjobb külföldi rendező, szintén a Private színeiben a Sex City rendezéséért. Előbbi megkapta a Best Special Effects díjat is. Dora Venter és Puma Black hazai színekben volt még érintett a Best Sex Scene in a Foreign-Shot Production díjban többekkel együtt.
